Art Inspiration: Elizabeth Catlett

  This image presented itself in my Pinterest feed and lead me on a fantastic journey of discovery.  Below is a small snippet from Elizabeth Catlett's Wikipedia.  Her graphic paintings and sculptures are giving me a major inspiration to start creating again. "Elizabeth Catlett (April 15, 1915[2] – April 2, 2012)[3] was an American and Mexican graphic artist and sculptor best known for her depictions of the African-American experience in the 20th century, which often focused on the female experience. She was born and raised in Washington, D.C. to parents working in education, and was the grandchild of freed slaves. If I could land anywhere in the world: San Francisco

If I could land anywhere in the world right now it would be  San Francisco I've traveled to San Francisco and the Bay Area at least 6 times over the past decade.  It is one of my favorite cities in the U.S. If I were to travel to San Francisco right now I would love to visit the SF MOMA.  However due to COVID-19 they are participating in the excellent #museumathome initiative. If I were to travel to San Francisco right now I would love to visit The Palace of Fine Arts.  I have a piece titled " All Roads Lead" that is inspired by a photograph I took there 6 years ago.  It's no longer available on rootcompass.com but it's still available...

Inspiration: All That Glitters

  Our All That Glitters mixed media was inspired by two things and two things only.  Rihanna and the following quote: "Everything that glitters is not gold" because as I was reading an article on how Rihanna had to regroup after being swindled I thought about how could this have happened.  The quote popped in my head and I had to act on it.
