Root Compass Traveling Tips: Checked Liquids

When flying, I liked to keep a dopp kit or toiletry bag to keep all my body products. The rule of thumb is that any liquid over 3.4 oz is supposed to go in the checked bag. I like to stick with 16oz of liquid or less in my checked bag. When the checked bag was screened, I had some of my items removed when they were over, so I tried to stick within the 16 oz realm. I use 1 oz of body oil, 2 oz of almond oil, and 8 oz of Castille Liquid Soap. I ensure the almond oil and Castille soap are bought new and are still sealed when I depart. If it is a short trip, I pack zip-lock bags in my luggage to put the containers in when I leave. If it is for at least a week, I know it will be used up, and I don't have to worry about re-packing. It is essential to understand how much you use so you can make it easier for yourself. Traveling and re-packing is always the kicker because it seems you have more than you came with, especially when on vacation. Sticking with the 16 oz rule also makes it, so you know the liquid will only bring your bag's weight as low as possible.
